Richard Marcus’ passion for a career as a sculptor began early in life, at the age of seventeen. Self taught, he works in stone, exotic woods, clay, bronze, and prehistoric mammoth ivory, which is found in permafrost regions of northern Canada, Alaska, and Siberia. Featured in notable public exhibitions, he has gained acclaim for his striking works of art utilizing rare and exotic materials.
From royalty to prestigious private collections, Richard Marcus’s sculptures are housed on every continent. Two works sit in public museums: Torso, Medical Museum of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Purple Heart Fan, Hauff Museum, Baden-Wurttenberg, Germany.
Residing in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, Richard Marcus recently ended his term as the president of the Sculptors’ Society of BC. He also teamed up with Storm Brewing to help promote the release of ten bottles of their Glacial Mammoth Extinction beer. Attached to each bottle was one of Richard Marcus’s one-of-a-kind pendant made from 35,000-year-old mammoth.
A prolific artist, Richard Marcus continues to produce new and exciting creations that allow for the exquisite beauty of prehistoric mammoth to be viewed in all its glory. And he doesn’t stop there! Check out the gallery…
